Working from Moxy Lisbon City: An Honest €10 Coworking Day in Picoas

Moxy Lisbon City is one of the cheapest places I return to for a coworking day in central Lisbon. The hotel now charges a €10 minimum spend, which covers 3 drinks at the bar. On my visit, the Wi-Fi worked throughout the day, the staff were friendly and there were more places to work than the first answer at reception suggested.
There is one important catch: music is part of the hotel. It is usually playing and the volume changes during the day. I would come here to write, plan, clear a backlog or have an informal meeting. I would not make it my first choice for a calendar packed with calls.
The short verdict
Moxy works because it is central, inexpensive and flexible. It is a busy city hotel rather than a quiet office, but you can move between a dedicated coworking area, long communal tables, cinema-style seating and an outdoor terrace.
The hotel currently describes its coworking area as open every day from 08:00 to 23:00. Its official events page also says that music plays all day, a minimum bar purchase applies and outside food and drinks are not allowed.

Do not stop at the first table
Walk through the shared areas before choosing a seat. The dedicated work zone has long desks, sockets and task chairs, while the tiered seating by the screen suits reading, email and shorter laptop sessions.

There are also corners away from the main bar. None is guaranteed to stay quiet, but moving usually solves a temporary crowd.
Music changes the kind of work you can do
The noise question matters more here than the chair or Wi-Fi. Music is not occasional background decoration. It is part of the Moxy concept, and the hotel warns coworking visitors that there is no volume control.
Some parts of my day were calm enough for an informal call with headphones. At other times, I would not have wanted a client presentation in the background. Events can also change the atmosphere quickly.
For a meeting where a little background activity is acceptable, Moxy is fine. For an interview, confidential conversation or several consecutive calls, use a private room elsewhere. The Amália meeting room can be reserved separately and includes audiovisual equipment, but it is not part of the minimum bar spend.
Wi-Fi, power and the practical basics
I had no problem with the internet during my coworking day. Browsing, cloud documents and ordinary online work were stable. I did not run a formal speed test, so that observation should not be read as a guarantee for a large upload or a critical broadcast.
The work areas have sockets, and some amphitheatre seating has power and USB connections. Arriving earlier gives you a better choice.
The air conditioning runs all day, which is the quiet argument for the place in July. On my last visit the lobby was busier than usual and there were still free spots across it for a meeting, without any event on.
The bathroom was clean despite the hotel being busy. Staff were approachable and helped without making the day feel like I was occupying hotel space without being a guest. That makes a difference in a lobby where the bar also acts as reception.
How to use the €10 minimum spend
The €10 is consumable at the bar and covers 3 drinks. You can also put it towards food: Marriott lists a 24-hour Grab&Go station, while the main bar serves meals and snacks during its opening hours.
Outside food and drink are not allowed, but Picoas has plenty of restaurants for a proper break. The low spend is one reason I return, even if I later move somewhere quieter.
Where to eat within two minutes
Two places are close enough that lunch costs you no working time. Gurkha Picoas is 70 metres up the street, Indian and Nepalese, and the right call for a long or client lunch, though the food took 30 to 45 minutes on my visit. Ajitama Saldanha is 120 metres down the avenue and much faster, with ramen and fresh noodles made daily.
The Gurkha lunch put a full working day in Picoas at roughly €25 per person: €10 at the Moxy bar and around €15 for lunch with a booking discount, travel aside.
Fresh air and the rooftop pool
The Moxy Arena has tables, chairs and open air. I would use it for messages, reading or an informal conversation rather than work that depends on perfect screen visibility.

During my visit, staff said non-guests could use the rooftop pool for an additional charge. The public Marriott page describes the pool as an amenity for hotel guests, and its rooftop bar operates seasonally. Do not plan the day around a swim until the hotel confirms access and the current price.

If access is available, the pool is a good way to end the workday. I would leave the laptop downstairs.
Getting there and what happens after work
Moxy Lisbon City is at Avenida Duque de Loulé 2A, in Picoas. The hotel lists Picoas and Marquês de Pombal as the nearest Metro stations. Several bus routes also serve the surrounding avenues.
Depending on where you start, compare an Uber or Bolt fare with public transport. A car can be practical for two people, though prices depend on demand.
Location is the other reason I keep coming back. After 18:00, many meetups, company events and restaurants are within an easy walk or short ride. You can finish work, close the laptop and continue the evening without crossing the city again.
Who should work here?
Choose Moxy for writing, research, planning, an informal meeting or a central base between appointments.
It also works if you are going solo and would rather meet a few people than a room full. I have ended up talking to friendly strangers there on ordinary days with no event running, though you generally have to start the conversation yourself, once someone has clearly finished a call or is not deep in concentration. Choose another space when the job needs silence, a guaranteed private booth or a controlled background for video calls. Music and hotel activity are not faults that staff can simply remove. They are part of the place.
I return on days when I control the calendar. With a €10 minimum spend that covers 3 drinks, I still get a usable desk, reliable internet during my visit and a central address. I just do not book important calls there.
