Lunch at Gurkha Picoas: Nepalese Food a Minute from Moxy Lisbon City
Visited in July 2026. Prices, opening hours and app discounts change, so confirm them before booking.
We finished half a day of coworking at Moxy Lisbon City and walked about 70 metres up the street for lunch at Gurkha Restaurant & Bar in Picoas. Indian and Nepalese kitchen, open since August 2025, and a first visit for all of us. The food was excellent, the portions were generous and the bill was smaller than the room suggests.
The short verdict
Come here for a long lunch, a client lunch, a group leaving a coworking day or a dinner where the setting matters. Do not come when you have 40 minutes and a call afterwards. Our food took 30 to 45 minutes to arrive even though the dining room was nearly empty.
A minute from a coworking day
Gurkha Picoas is at Rua Gonçalves Crespo 49A, roughly 70 metres from the Moxy lobby, so it is the closest proper sit-down lunch if you work from the hotel. Picoas is the nearest Metro station, with Marquês de Pombal a short walk further.
That proximity is the point. A half day at Moxy costs a €10 minimum spend that covers 3 drinks, and this lunch cost us around €15 a head, so a full working day in Picoas came to roughly €25 per person before travel.
What we paid, and how the TheFork discount moved
We booked through TheFork with 50% off the food. The offer moved during the same day: at around 09:00 the app showed 50%, and by the afternoon the same restaurant was down to 30%. If a specific percentage matters to your budget, book early rather than on the walk over.
With the 50% applied, and with starters and drinks on the table, we landed near €15 per person.
Without a discount, the English menu published by the restaurant in August 2025 gives you a reference:

Treat those as an indication rather than a quote. The Picoas page currently lists a few dishes above the PDF menu, so check the printed menu at the table.

The wait was the only real complaint
Thirty to forty-five minutes is a long time for a near-empty dining room. It was our first visit, so I cannot say whether that is normal or a one-off. If you are on a schedule, order starters with the mains instead of waiting to see how the timing goes. Momo and samosa are cheap enough to make that an easy call.
Service and the room
The staff were genuinely friendly and worked mainly in English. The room reads as an organised, slightly formal dinner restaurant rather than a lunch canteen, which is exactly why it works for a client lunch or a date. The restaurant describes its own setting as refined, with gold accents, and the photos on its site are accurate.
The food
Nobody at the table had a complaint about the food, and the portions were bigger than the prices suggest. The menu runs from Nepalese momo and chatamari through tandoori grills and biryani to mild classics like butter chicken and korma. There is a full vegetarian section, including dal makhani, baingan bharta and aloo gobi, plus gluten-free millet and buckwheat rotis. Traditional curries can be ordered mild, medium or very spicy, so ask rather than assume.
